An expression of that intent

Open Coaching Knowledge

We took the knowledge IX Coach uses for coaching, and we made it free for anyone to read.

But we did it in a very unique way, one that makes the relationship visible between the research that proves what works and what doesn’t — looking at the human race and what we have proven works for reaching your goals, for identifying the gap between where you’re at and what you want in your life, and for navigating that gap in the most efficient way possible.

That spans the domains relevant to life coaching, to the actualization of latent potential, to therapy, and to spiritual inquiry. Spanning those domains, we have mapped the research that is fundamental to the principles, and the principles that are fundamental to the modalities.

Then we converted all of that to be semantically searchable, and made it so you could search it in under one second. In under one second you get a ranked list of the most relevant modalities, principles and practices to your grievance — whatever complaint you have about what it is to be alive — or to whatever you long to have more of in your life.

How it fits together

The target is to decompose, map and connect all of the evidence based modalities that humans use to cross the gap, the gap being the space between present day context and aspiration. So between depression and fulfillment, between intent and habit, between a value and the embodiment of that value, between present day reality and a goal you hold.

The evidence based manners by which a gap can be more efficiently or effectively crossed, and the distinct (yet complementary) modalities for crossing them, are the narrow slice of what it is to be human that the corpus is designed to operate within.

So far there are 925 modalities and growing, and each decomposes into the principles upon which it operates. Each principle is mapped to the research, RCTs, evidence, or basis (if anecdotal, for example) that it relies upon. The research is cited, with auditing agents validating each connection and the degree of rigor involved.

From the modalities come the practices one would engage to put the modality into practice, effectively making the DIY approach accessible if someone desires. For each practice there’s a link into IX Coach to practice it; that final connection is being built now, so IX Coach fully aligns with the starting context.

Each interconnected slice of this corpus is translated into seven languages, and each slice is interconnected with the others, like Wikipedia, through their relationships.

In other words: the unique evidence based ways of thinking and developing, each broken down into the principles underneath it (the why) and the practices (the how), with the real mechanism, a read on the evidence, and when in someone’s life it matters most.

The trajectory is the expansion of each of these vector spaces, which at this point, by design, seems to impact the relevance of the tool as a whole in a pattern closer to exponential than linear. Every number on this page is a count as of today, and every one of them is growing.

The design is largely the latest evolution of the AI coach’s mind, or at least one shard of it. There are eight or so such sources that constitute what the AI sees when it is coaching.

For anyone whose work is decisions, there’s a thinking and decisions branch: 53 modalities, including Bayesian thinking, base rate neglect, calibration and decision journaling.

We built it in such a way that every shard of the AI coaching knowledge is an SEO surface. And not just any SEO surface — not just optimizing to compete with terms. It’s the kind of SEO surface that delivers substantive value, which is actually respected by Google, and Google is getting more effective every day at measuring that which produces substantive value.

So the thesis was this: take one of the most sacred things about our entire system, make it available for free to anyone — and that this could be done in such a way that it would attract a ton of traffic from Google and put us on the map.

We tested the thesis, and we proved it true.

There’s not a dollar collected for anyone to access it, and it costs next to nothing to provide.

It is a distinct intent realized. It proves our alignment with our vision, proves we can make an impact, and proves we can take a very nuanced, systems-theory range of perspectives and identify the critical vantage points which will work in concert to deliver real results.
